We run the Pre-Contest to encourage participation, but there's nothing to stop you from entering the Contest without entering the Pre-Contest.
Does this affect my chance of winning?
No. You have just as much chance of winning if you enter the Contest as if you enter both the Pre-Contest and the Contest.
